Kill a smartphone password with a scan of your eye

Dr. Asem Othman, one of the lead biometric scientists on the Computer Vision team at Hoyos Labs, recently discussed the inclusion of an iris scanner in the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 7. The Note 7 is one of the first smart mobile devices to incorporate a near-infrared camera, which makes iris scanning and capture possible, preceded only by the Fujitsu Arrows NX F-04G and Microsoft Lumia 950 XL, both released in 2015. Dr. Othman predicts that Apple might introduce the technology in the iPhone in 2018.
