Veridium’s 4 Fingers TouchlessID Gains Momentum One Year After its First Commercial Deployment

New Export and Liveness Features Are Introduced as the Company Rolls Out its Proprietary Biometric Authentication Technology Globally

QUINCY, MA – November 20, 2017 –  Veridium, a leader in strong authentication using biometrics, is marking the one year anniversary of the first commercial deployment of its proprietary biometric solution, 4 Fingers TouchlessID, with the announcement of new features and a global commercial roll-out of the technology. 4 Fingers TouchlessID captures four fingerprints at once, contactlessly, using a phone’s rear camera and flash. Veridium is the first company to develop a multi-finger touchless biometric authentication system that works on unmodified smartphones.

“As financial technologies evolve, new banking regulations are enacted and emerging markets drive demand for new models, the need for secure, easy-to-use, scalable biometric authentication solutions is gaining traction,” said James Stickland, CEO, Veridium. “As the creator of 4 Fingers TouchlessID, we continue to innovate and seek new opportunities where our proprietary, disruptive technology can be deployed around the globe.”

New Features

4 Fingers TouchlessID is a significantly more reliable biometric than other mobile-based solutions. Unlike facial recognition, it won’t fail under bright lights or in dim rooms; in noisy areas, it’s better than voice; and it’s more secure than using a single thumbprint. 4 Fingers TouchlessID works on any iOS or Android smartphone equipped with a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera and LED flash, and doesn’t require any additional hardware or sensors. Veridium is introducing a suite of new features to 4 Fingers TouchlessID, including:

  • Cross-Platform Matching Capabilities: 4 Fingers Export provides the ability to export prints that are the equivalent of those captured on traditional flatbed scanners, and match them against government databases, making this technology the most reliable option for remotely enrolling and authenticating users.
  • New Liveness Features: 4 Fingers meets the NIST Digital Identity Guidelines for authentication management by providing multi factor authentication with liveness measures, counteracting most spoofing efforts by being able to detect that fingerprints are real and not a photograph.
  • Driving Industry Innovation: Veridium is one of the earliest participants in the Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA) program aimed at developing open testing methods to evaluate touchless fingerprinting technology.

Global Rollout

Last November, Veridium announced a partnership with bunq to provide its mobile banking customers across Europe with a higher level of precision and reliability for authentication. bunq’s banking app incorporates 4 Fingers TouchlessID to provide customers with more secure control of their money with access to real-time data. One year later, Veridium has plans to roll out the technology globally, including commercial deployments within the United States, Europe, Latin America and Africa with a focus on the financial services and government sectors.

Veridium recently announced a partnership with Wala to bring universal and affordable financial services to the unbanked and underbanked in Sub-Saharan Africa. The pilot program will bring accessible, zero-fee banking to this population using a new digital banking platform on unmodified Android smartphones.
